WHAT DO WE DO?

Pyramid Kernow helps children & young people to fulfil their potential in school and in life.

Parents and Teachers know that in every class there are some children who need help coping with life in a busy school.

Children can be invited to join our 10 week activity clubs for a huge variety of reasons.

Clubs are designed to encourage everyone to have fun, they help boost confidence and self esteem

Pyramid Clubs are relaxed, fun clubs where children and young people can take part in many activities, including arts and crafts, cooking, games and an outing!

What children & young people say about their clubs:

* You really have good fun and you make loads of friends
* Everything is Ok here, we look after each other
* Being at our club is better than going on holiday
* It's really cool!
* I liked the chance of freedom and to do whatever I want for a change. Shame I have to leave. I would come back if I could.
Our clubs are run by fully trained and police checked club leaders, many of them are volunteers.

BENEFITS

Pyramid enables schools and other agencies to deliver on the government's Every Child Matters Agenda.

* Be Healthy

* Stay Safe

* Enjoy and Achieve

* Make a Positive Contribution

* Achieve Economic Well-being

FURTHER BENEFITS
Schools completing their Ofsted Self-Evaluation will be able to demonstrate how they are addressing the personal development and well-being of children with specific needs as part of a whole-school approach to emotional and social development.

Pyramid also fits neatly with the Healthy Schools Standard enabling schools to identify vulnerable individuals and establish appropriate strategies to support them
(National Healthy School Status: A Guide for Schools, 2005).

Pyramid dovetails and compliments the work of 'SEAL' providing a wave 2 approach for individual children within small group settings

OTHER AREAS OF POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

Pyramid has traditionally worked in schools because nearly all children attend school, so it is more likely that difficulties will be identified and addressed there. However, the model could also be used in a community setting or with a specific group of children (e.g. looked after children, children of migrant workers / traveller children etc).
